Data + Regulation

Data + Regulation

The production, circulation, and use of digital data is being remade through an evolving set of rules, policies, and regulations. These exist at multiple levels: from firms and industries, to nations, to international rules. Some policies — like the General Data Protection Regulations of the EU — exert power well beyond their jurisdiction. Others are still nascent, including the data protection laws of East African states. This panel brings together experts to discuss these legal rules, questions of compliance, and the frontiers of managing data for commercial and public purpose.

Participants in our roundtable include:

  • Linda Bonyo, Africa Law Tech Association;
  • Prof. Alex B. Makulilo, Open University of Tanzania;
  • Kenneth Muhangi, KTA Advocates; and
  • Grace Bomu, Centre for Intellectual Property & Information Technology, Strathmore Law School.

Please join us on 1 September @ 13:00-14:30 East Africa Time (11-12:30 BST).
